Kerry Sweet, KPA CTP
25 years of professional training experience, a lifelong love of dogs, and a commitment to fear-free, reward-based methods.
Kerry Sweet is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) based in Durham, NC. She brings over 25 years of professional training and development experience to every session — and a genuine passion for helping dogs and their people build real, lasting connections.
Kerry's approach is rooted in the science of positive reinforcement. She believes that dogs thrive when training is built on trust, clear communication, and reward — never fear or force. Whether you have a brand-new puppy or an adult dog with some habits to work on, Kerry meets you and your dog exactly where you are.
With a background in professional training and development, Kerry has a unique ability to coach the humans as much as the dogs. She knows that lasting change happens when owners feel confident and connected — not just when dogs perform on cue.
Kerry has done extensive work with rescue organizations throughout the Triangle, including Independent Animal Rescue, APS of Durham, and SPA of Wake County. This work has deepened her understanding of dogs with difficult histories and reinforced her commitment to compassionate, patient training for every dog — regardless of their background.
